Captives

Daneb waited patiently for something to happen, but after a couple of hours, he became anxious. They were getting farther and farther from Nova Nine, and there was no way Benny could catch up. He wasn't sure if Benny was a scientist or an assassin, but he was hoping for a rescue either way.

After pulling on the bars and finding them solid, Daneb looked over the room again, but didn't find anything useful. The only other options were Pira and the bathroom, and she was keeping to herself. The man warned them not to ask to go to the bathroom often, but Daneb rather needed it.

He stuck his head against the bar and yelled, "Hey! Hello?"

Pira came to her bars.

He gave her a half-hearted smile. "Hello?" he called again. He rapped on the frame of the door, but it didn't make much noise.

"What are you doing?" Pira asked in a low voice.

"I have to go to the bathroom."

She raised her eyebrows slightly and her eyes widened in question. Daneb eyes went to the ceiling, then the floor, before settling back on her. That meant yes, there was something. Pira disappeared into her room.

"Should I just piss on the floor?" he shouted.

"Piss on my ship and I'll pull your tiny pecker out through your asshole," the Sintarac said.

Daneb looked the other way down the hall, but couldn't see the woman, so looked towards the camera in the ceiling.

"Yes, the camera functions as an intercom. Hold it in. I'll be there in a little bit."

It took her a few minutes. When she arrived, she trained her gun on him, pressed the button to open his cell, and stepped back. "Don't try anything. This ship can withstand a bullet, but this will put a hole straight through you."

"Ok." He put his hands up for a second.

She nodded down the hall in the direction she'd come.

Pira was at her bars again, and Daneb glanced at her as he passed. She flicked her eyes in the Sintarac's direction, and he flicked his eyes down and up again, indicating she should try.

Daneb took a few steps down the hall, and heard the Sintarac follow. He turned over his left shoulder just as the Sintarac was in front of Pira's bars. "Is it this way?" He pointed to a passage on the left a little ways ahead, keeping her attention away from Pira, who was on her right.

"Keep straight until I tell you otherwise."

"Ok."

The side passage was a dead end flanked by two doors. There was an equivalent on the opposite side, and the same farther down.

"Stop," the woman commanded as he traversed the second intersection. "Door on your left."

The passage was again short, with a door on either side. Daneb took that to mean the left door in the left passage, but went instead for the door on the right side of the left passage.

"No. Not that one." She tapped her gun against the other door.

"Sorry. You just said left."

The woman glared at him.

Daneb quickly relieved himself, and the woman led him back to his cell.
